More than learning a dance

Move. Think. Connect. Discover a Whole New Social World.

People come to Argentine Tango for many reasons: to meet people, move their body, challenge their mind, discover incredible music or simply find something new and exciting to look forward to each week. Tango brings all of those things together.

It is passionate, playful, endlessly challenging and deeply social — and it has a habit of becoming people's favourite new hobby surprisingly quickly.

Move Your Body

Develop balance, coordination, posture, awareness and a new way of moving with another person.

Challenge Your Mind

Tango is improvised. You listen, respond, create, problem-solve and stay completely present.

Meet People

Classes open the door to a welcoming community, social dancing, friendships and shared experiences.

Immerse Yourself

Classes, milongas, workshops, performances, festivals and travel can become part of your Tango world.

Come for the Tango. Stay for the people.

A Community You Can Become Part Of

You are not simply joining a course. You are stepping into an active Tango community where students train together, socialise, attend milongas and form real friendships. Familiar faces make it much easier to take those first steps beyond the classroom.

Argentine Tango social dancing at Abrázame Milonga London

From the classroom to the milonga

The Class Is Where You Learn. The Milonga Is Where Tango Comes Alive.

Argentine Tango is first and foremost a social dance. A milonga is the social gathering where Tango is danced, shared and enjoyed — and preparing you to feel confident enough to experience that world is one of the central aims of this course.

You will learn not only movement vocabulary, but how to improvise with another person, listen and respond to the music, navigate a shared dance floor, understand social Tango etiquette and begin developing your own expression.

Social dancing is also one of the most important learning opportunities in Tango. It teaches adaptation, floorcraft, musical awareness and communication in ways that cannot be recreated entirely inside a class.

And you will not be entering that world alone. We organise Abrázame Milonga, our beautiful riverside milonga in London, and many Tango en el Alma students regularly attend. Your course includes a special introduction to the milonga, so there will be familiar and friendly faces as you begin taking your Tango beyond the classroom.

We are not teaching you eight weeks of steps. We are giving you the foundations to begin becoming a social Tango dancer.

Your 8-week journey

What You Will Learn

Our beginner course is built around understanding Tango rather than memorising choreography. You will learn the foundations that allow the dance to become comfortable, improvised, musical and social.

Tango is also a living Argentine culture. Throughout the course we introduce you to where Tango comes from, how it evolved, the history and culture surrounding the dance, the music and great orchestras, and how different periods and sounds shape the way Tango is danced. Understanding the culture and music gives meaning to the movement and helps you experience Tango as far more than a sequence of steps.

World-class Argentine Tango teachers Letitia Simone and Andrés Sosa in London

Your teachers

World-Class Experience. Welcoming Teaching From Your Very First Step.

Letitia Simone and Andrés Sosa are world-class Argentine Tango artists, teachers, organisers and cultural ambassadors based between London and Buenos Aires. Through Tango en el Alma, they have created an international platform dedicated to authentic Argentine Tango, high-level teaching, exceptional events and meaningful cultural experiences. They also understand that starting Tango can feel unfamiliar at first, and their beginner teaching is designed to make people feel supported, comfortable and able to build confidence from the very first class.

Their backgrounds create an unusual artistic depth: Letitia brings a strong foundation in contemporary dance and movement research, while Andrés is deeply rooted in Argentine folklore and traditional Tango culture. Together their teaching is shaped by musicality, connection, elegance, emotional truth and the soul of Buenos Aires.

They have taught and performed across the UK, Europe, Asia and South America, collaborated with celebrated maestros and built a reputation for combining artistic integrity, warmth, refinement and ambitious community leadership.

For Letitia and Andrés, Tango is not simply a dance to be taught. It is a living Argentine culture to be understood, respected and experienced deeply — from your first London class to the milonga, the stage or Buenos Aires itself.

Your first eight weeks are just the beginning

Where Could Tango Take You?

These eight weeks are your introduction to Tango and the beginning of a much longer learning journey. From here, most students continue developing their foundations through further beginner training before progressing into our intermediate and advanced classes as their confidence, technique, musicality and social-dance experience grow. There is no single destination. Many students simply fall in love with social dancing. Others discover performance, competitions, festivals, retreats or travel. We give you the foundations; where you take your Tango is up to you.

Social Dancing

Become part of the milonga community, dance regularly and enjoy Tango as a rich social life and lifelong practice.

Challenge Yourself

Some students progress into performances, advanced training or competitions as their confidence and ambition grow.

Explore the Tango World

Festivals, retreats and Buenos Aires can become part of a much bigger journey once Tango becomes part of your life.

Questions before you begin?

Beginner Tango Course FAQs

Do I need a partner?

No. You are very welcome to join alone. Many beginners start on their own, and we rotate partners during class so you can learn and practise with different people. If you are coming with a partner or friend, you can book two places together at checkout.

I have never danced before. Is this really for complete beginners?

Yes. The September intake starts from the beginning and is designed for people with no previous Tango or dance experience.

What is the difference between the £120 course and £180 Complete Programme?

The 8-Week Beginner Course gives you one class each week — choose Monday or Wednesday. The Complete Beginner Programme includes both Monday and Wednesday classes, giving you 16 live classes across eight weeks for greater continuity, repetition and faster progress.

What if I need to miss a class?

Where possible, you can make up a missed class by joining the alternative beginner class that week, or by doubling up and attending both classes during another week. If you know you will be away, just speak to us and we will help you work out the best option.

Can I come as a couple?

Yes. Both options are priced per person. If you are booking with a partner or friend, select two participants at checkout. You do not need to arrive with a partner to take part.

Will we only learn steps?

No. Our focus is on the foundations of real social Argentine Tango: connection, movement vocabulary, improvisation, musicality, floorcraft and the confidence to begin dancing at milongas.

What is a milonga?

A milonga is the social gathering where Argentine Tango is danced. Understanding how milongas work, how to navigate the floor, listen to the music and dance with others is a fundamental part of developing your Tango.

What support is included outside the live classes?

Course students receive app support with class recap videos and beginner tutorials to reinforce what you learn between sessions. The course also includes a special introduction to Abrázame Milonga, the riverside social Tango night organised by Tango en el Alma.

Will we learn about Tango history, music and Argentine culture?

Yes. Understanding the culture is part of understanding the dance. Throughout the course we introduce Tango's Argentine roots, its evolution, the history of Tango music and orchestras, and how the music and social culture shape the way Tango is danced.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Smart-casual is perfect. Shoes that stay securely on your feet and allow you to pivot comfortably are ideal. You do not need specialist Tango shoes to start.

What happens after the eight weeks?

Your Tango does not end with the course. We will help you understand the best next step for your development, whether that is continued weekly training, social dancing at Abrázame Milonga, workshops or deeper personalised coaching.

I have a question before booking. How can I contact you?

You can WhatsApp us on +44 7535 979079 or email letitiayandrestango@gmail.com. We are happy to help you choose the right option.
